Cheviot Hills is an affluent neighborhood west of downtown Los Angeles, surrounded by the communities of Rancho Park, Century City, Beverlywood, and Culver City. Some of the homes, built in the 1940′ and 1950’s, were designed by the famous architects such as Raphael Soriano, John L. DeLario, Roland E. Coartes, and Wallace Neff. The area has seen dramatic appreciation of home values since the original development of homes in the 1920’s. Considered one of the “hottest” neighborhoods in the area, there has also been a surge in new development and housing construction. Cheviot Hills is also informally divided into “Old” Cheviot and “New” Cheviot (although many homes in the “New” section were built in the 50’s). Located near several major movie studios, the area has been the site of filming for many movies and television shows. There is one public elementary school administered by LA Unified, and Hamilton High School is located just a few blocks east, and there are also 2 private schools. Residents can enjoy the massive Cheviot Hills Park, which includes the Cheviot Hills Recreation Center, the Cheviot Hills Tennis Courts (offers 14 lighted tennis courts), and two private country clubs. There are also 2 smaller parks, Club Circle and Irvine Schachter Park, making the area a highly desirable prime location in Los Angeles.
