With a population of just over 48,000 residents, East Hollywood is a 1.8 square-mile community adjacent to central Hollywood, Los Feliz, Silver Lake,and Koreatown. The neighborhood is home to three hospitals, Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, Queen of Angels, and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Area homes are primarily large, single-family dwellings, with some reaching the size and majesty of a mansion. There are a few apartment buildings and condominiums, but local housing ordinances prevent these structures from being too tall.

East Hollywood is west of supremely hip Silver Lake. It is unpretentious and fastidiously unkempt, East Hollywood boasts neighborhood dive bars, streetside churro stands, and community fairs where sidewalk musicians make all the noise they want.

Vista Theatre is a historic single-screen movie theater in Los Angeles, California, located in East Hollywood on the border with Los Feliz.

Vista Theatre opened on October 16, 1923, as a single-screen theater. In addition to screening films, the theater also showed vaudeville acts on stage.

It is one of the remaining historic structures from the 1920s, when Hollywood was first built up and began attracting residents to its new suburban homes from areas near downtown Los Angeles and East Los Angeles, at the time middle and wealthy class sections of Los Angeles.

In a manner reminiscent of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, The Vista is a local landmark. It has been renovated to play new release movies, and retains its historic architecture.

Tujunga is a neighborhood of the city of Los Angeles California located in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. Bolton Hall is a historic American Craftsman era stone building in Tujunga. Built in 1913, it was originally used as a community center for the Utopian community of Los Terrenitos. From 1920 until 1957, it was used as an American Legion hall, the San Fernando Valley’s second public library, Tujunga City Hall and a jail. In 1957, the building was closed. For more than 20 years, Bolton Hall remained vacant and was the subject of debates over demolition and restoration. Since 1980, it has been operated by the Little Landers Historical Society as a local history museum containing artifacts, photographs, documents, the old clock from the first Tujunga Post Office and memorabilia of Sunland-Tujunga and the foothill area.

McGroarty Arts Center is Historic Cultural Monument No. 63 of the City of Los Angeles. It was built in 1923 by John McGroarty, poet, Los Angeles Times columnist, and author who served two terms as a Democratic congressman from California. The building now offers instruction in art, music and performance, exhibitions, and hosts cultural events.

Angeles National Golf Club, at the base of the Angeles National Forest, is the only Nicklaus Design golf course in Los Angeles County and is an 18-hole, par-72 championship golf course.

The Movie Colony neighborhood of Palm Springs, California is known for its revered past as a movie star getaway oasis. With homes for sale, this palms resort community is primarily comprised of single family homes constructed in the 1930s. Many actors of the 40’s and 50’s lived and vacationed in the community. It remains today a comfortable bastion of artists and creative retirees. Also home to the famous Movie Colony Hotel, the neighborhood is a short walk to downtown Palm Springs and the Palm Springs Art Museum. The real estate area is defined by the border streets of E Tachevah Dr, N Avenida Caballeros, E Alejo Rd and N Indian Canyon Dr.

There are two movie colonies. They renamed the area that our office is in to make it more fancy, which has worked well in real estate marketing. I mention it in case someone looks it up and gets confused. There’s also Los Palmas, which is where most of the stars lived.

Elizabeth Taylor’s old house (which she hadn’t been in since the 80’s) is renting for $5,000 a month and it’s tacky. Elvis’ house is back on the market. Celebrity houses are getting a high profile recently. Leonardo Di Caprio bought a house here. Sunnylands was re-done, and now the President keeps coming there, and that is a big deal to many investors.

It’s largely investment “party house” vacation homes that are the hot tickets right now. Many buyers are investing today, with plans to possibly retire in the property later.

The single family homes do not contain very many large families. Along with a large number of single retirees, the neighborhood also attracts a large number of gay, lesbian and GLBT community. The Modernist style homes are a major attraction (the Modernist Weekend always results in sales). While the neighborhood begin in the 30’s, most buyers are attracted to the 1960s houses, and there are a lot of big-name, well-known architects attached.
