Granada Hills is a affluent community located about 22 miles north-west of downtown Los Angeles, in the San Fernando Valley. Located west of Sylmar and San Fernando, Granada Hills features a large number of houses built in the “mid-century modern” style of architecture, but there are some historic Victorian houses as well as brand new homes. Granada Hills lies north of Northridge and east of Porter Ranch. The Balboa Heights tract of houses, designed by Joseph Eichler, has been featured in many movies and commercials.
White Oak Avenue, between San Fernando Mission and San Jose Street in Granada Hills was declared a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument Deodar Cedar trees that line the street. Granada Hills began as dairy farm and orchard which grew apricots, oranges, walnuts and beans, parts of which can still be seen in orange, lemon or grapefruit trees in many residential yards. Granada Hills has 16 public and 10 private schools.
