Placentia is a northern Orange County, California city situated between the cities of Fullerton, Brea, Yorba Linda and Anaheim. The population was 50,533 during the 2010 census. Districts in Placentia include the Neighborhood of La Jolla, and the formerly unincorporated community of Atwood at the southern edge. Primarily known as a bedroom community, Placentia contains about 16,000 houses, condos and apartment units in its quiet neighborhoods. Placentia is a recipient of the prestigious All America City Award, given out annually by the National Civic League to ten cities in the United States. With expanded Metrolink train public transportation, Downtown Placentia enjoys revitalization and increased metropolitan-style real estate such as condominiums. Top employers include schools, Placentia-Linda Hospital, Hartwell, Premedia and municipal government.

The George Key Ranch Historic District citrus ranch with Victorian ranch house has been turned into a 2-acre historic park, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
