Baldwin Vista is the southwest corner area of Baldwin Hills, a neighborhood in Los Angeles about 5 miles west-southwest of Downtown L.A.  The western side of the neighborhood is bordered by the Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area, the southern side runs along Stocker Street, and the northeast side ends along Santo Tomas Drive.  Although not defined officially, Baldwin Vista is recognized by residents and realtors as part of Baldwin Hills.  The neighboring communities are Crenshaw, Culver City, Jefferson Park, Ladera cp-ad-save-thousandsHeights, Leimert Park, View Park-Windsor Hills and West Adams.  Baldwin Hills also contains the neighborhoods of Baldwin Village, The Dons, and Village Green.  Baldwin Vista and other surrounding features and places are named for the famous 19th century land baron and horse racing pioneer, Elias J. “Lucky” Baldwin.  The area has some of the most beautiful and expansive views of the surrounding neighborhoods of Los Angeles, especially to the west and north where one can view Hollywood Hills and the iconic Hollywood sign.  From vantage points in Baldwin Vista, the skyscrapers of Los Angeles are back-dropped dramatically by the snow capped mountains of San Gabriel and San Bernardino.
