The New Downtown area consists of The Financial District plus the area west to Lucas Ave. between 1st and 9th Streets. It is included as part of the Downtown area in general, but differentiates itself because of the many newer corporate office skyscrapers, hotels, banks, law firms, and real estate companies built as an alternative to the old Spring Street Financial District which fell into disrepair during the second half of the 20th century. It also overlaps into the McArthur Park and City West neighborhoods on the west side and the Bunker Hill district on the north end. New Downtown features many lofts and condominiums, both new and in renovated historic buildings. Some of these buildings are: Promenade Condominiums, Bunker Hill Tower, Promenade West, Vero, 1100 Wilshire Building, 655 Hope Lofts, Library Court, and Metropolis. Attractions located in New Downtown include the Walt Disney Concert Hall, The Broad (art gallery), and the FIGat7th (shopping /retail center).
