Central-Alameda is a neighborhood in South Los Angeles with many affordable homes and easy access to Downtown.  The area is bordered on the west by South Central Ave. and on the east by Alameda Street.  The southern boundary is Slauson Ave, but the northern edge may be mapped either as E. Vernon Ave. or more to the north at E. Washington Ave.  Surrounding communities include Vernon, Huntington Park, Florence-Graham, South Park, and Historic South Central.  Easy access to the I-110 is less than 2 miles to the west.

There are several public parks and grassy areas in Central-Alameda such as the Ross Snyder Recreation Center which features lighted sports fields, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, tennis courts, picnic tables, children’s play area, and a pool.  The park also hosts after school programs, arts & crafts workshops, seasonal day camp (Ages 5-12), summer lunch program, teen homes-under-500k-cp-ad-rsi-jprograms, exercise classes, and special events ( Spring Children’s Festival, Halloween Carnival, Winter Children’s Festival, and Summer Night Lights).  Residents may use the Vernon public library, and the area is served by Jefferson High School and Holmes Ave. Elementary.  There are many smaller specialty markets in the neighborhood as well as several large commercial grocery stores.  There is a large selection of retail stores and services along Vernon Ave. and Alameda Street, as well as smaller businesses spread throughout the neighborhood.  There are many nearby attractions to the north near Downtown such as the Natural History Museum of L.A. County, the Staples Center, and the Flower and Jewelry Districts.
