Koreatown is a neighborhood of about 3 square miles in Central Los Angeles dating back to the 1960’s known for its Art-Deco buildings and terra cotta facades. Although the community has many businesses offering Korean culture, the area reflects a complex interaction with all the cultures of Los Angeles. Surrounding neighborhoods include East Hollywood, Silver Lake, Westlake, Pico-Union, Harvard Heights, Arlington Heights, Mid-City, Windsor Square, Larchmont, and Downtown L.A. As Koreatown has expanded over the years, it has also come to include the smaller neighborhoods of Wilshire Center and Little Bangladesh. In addition to 2 subway lines, L.A. Metro operates numerous Express, Rapid and Local bus lines through the district. There is nearby access to the Hollywood Freeway (101), I-10, and 110 freeways. Notable attractions are the Chapman Park Market, the Ambassador Hotel, The Wiltern Theater, Koreatown Plaza, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, and Wilshire-Gramercy Plaza. The Shatto Recreation Center offers residents an indoor gymnasium that is also used as an auditorium, a baseball diamond, basketball courts, tennis courts, volleyball courts, and a children’s play area. In addition to some of the city’s best restaurants, diverse retail shopping offers almost any other item you need from stationary supplies to kitchen gadgets, kids toys, acupuncture clinics, gifts, traditional herb and medicine stores, art supplies, and even a four-story indoor driving range for golf enthusiasts. In addition to the few highly sought after single-family homes in the area, there are many condos and lofts to choose from including both vintage and new construction.
