Originally the back lot of 20th Century Fox Film Studio, Century City was first developed in 1963 and is bordered by West Los Angeles and Westwood to the west, Cheviot Hills to the south, Pico-Robertson to the east, and Beverly Hills to the north.

The Century City neighborhood has two private schools, and public schools run by LA Unified School District are offered in nearby neighborhoods.  The Westfield Century City Shopping center is a prominent part of the local economy and is undergoing renovation and expansion to improve its status as a shopping and entertainment destination.  Other attractions in the area include The Grove, UCLA, Sunset Blvd. /Sunset Strip, and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
