Woodland Hills is a neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles, in the San Fernando Valley, bordered by the Santa Monica Mountains to the south; Calabasas lies to the west, Tarzana to the east, and Canoga Park to the north.  Woodland Hills is crossed by U.S. Route 101 (Ventura Freeway) from east to west, and Topanga Canyon Blvd. from north to south.  Originally known as the community of Girard, Woodland Hills is listed as Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument #93 because of hundreds of pepper trees planted along Canoga Ave. in the 1920’s.

Woodland Hills can have hot summers and cold winters and is classified as a Mediterranean climate.  As of the 2000 Census, Woodland Hills is one of the least dense neighborhoods in Los Angeles.  The 7 public elementary schools, 2 middles schools, 3 high schools, and 7 charter schools of Woodland Hills are part of Los Angeles Unified School District, and there are 9 private schools serving grades K-12.
